The Vulcan RFID Iron USB Reader lets you quickly read and write tags! It's managed and powered by your portable or desktop computer and has an internal antenna, making it perfect for tag reading and encoding, RFID testing, IoT (Internet of Things) applications, and other short-range applications. The Vulcan RFID Iron USB Reader has a durable 3D-printed plastic with a metal backplate and a rubber base. At 2.83 x 2.83 x 0.91 inches and less than 3 ounces, it's small, durable, and ready to mount. The Iron USB RFID Reader is compatible with industry-leading software including Vulcan RFID Read, Write, & Verify Software (compatible with the original Iron legacy M6E series model only), which is a user-friendly interface that streamlines the encoding process and is designed to eliminate the tedious process of encoding tags by hand, and ThingMagic's application development tools. These tools are inclusive of ThingMagic® Mercury API and ThingMagic® Universal Reader Assistant (URA) software, which allows for rapid creation of solutions to support a wide range of applications as well as integration into existing systems using ThingMagic's API.
The Vulcan RFID Iron is offered in two product generations:
Note: Iron II replaces the Legacy Iron model as the latest Vulcan RFID Iron generation. The original model Iron is no longer the standard offering and is subject to limited availability based on remaining inventory.

The Vulcan RFID Iron II upgrades the proven Iron USB Reader with the next-generation M7E module, replacing the legacy M6E platform, which is reaching end-of-life and will be discontinued.
Recommended for new projects and deployments, the Iron II maintains the familiar functionality of the original Iron while adding Keyboard Wedge Emulation, allowing RFID tag reads to be sent directly into applications such as Microsoft Excel or other programs that accept keyboard input, without requiring specialized RFID software.
Like the original model, the Iron II is also TAA-compliant and can be used in North America and other countries that follow FCC standards, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of deployments.
Equipped with a small form factor, the Vulcan RFID Iron USB RFID Reader is a high-performance USB RFID reader ideally suited for access control, android-based systems, loT, and embedded applications.
