ThingMagic M7E-Pico Embedded RFID Module Developer Kit

ThingMagic M7E-Pico is the smallest form factor for a Mercury Series embedded UHF/RAIN RFID module. Featuring the Impinj E310 RAIN RFID Reader Chip, the module has very low power consumption and is ideal for battery-operated, low cost, small form-factor portable readers. And its’ wide RF output range is critical in supporting read/write requirements for RFID-enabled printers and tag commissioning stations. The M7E-Pico platform uses the same Mercury API as other JADAK ThingMagic products, allowing for easy software integration and customization based on form-fit-function SKUs. And the module is flexible enough to allow OEMs to tailor a license that enables the features of interest in the field. This developer kit is the perfect way to make the most of your M7E-Pico reader module.

NOTE: This product is a reader module – NOT a finished RFID reader – and is meant for OEM and developers to embed into products or to be used in the creation of a new finished reader. If you are interested in an existing finished reader product, check out our line of finished ThingMagic readers.

Why buy this module?

The ThingMagic M7E-Pico embedded RFID module saves space, battery power, and money; it is small enough to fit just about anywhere, has low power consumption, and features a surface mount package to drive down the total embedding cost. It does all of this without sacrificing any flexibility or power as it is extremely portable, has a wide RF output range, and is designed to be used in high volume applications. When you need to build a reader with a tiny, effective module, look no further.

The associated reader module enables you to build a reader with serial and USB interfaces to support both board-to-board and board-to-host connectivity. The module development kit gives you everything you need to connect to a PC and start reading tags. The Mercury API is loaded on your host processor so you can write software to control the module in the DevKit chassis. The Mercury API supports the entire line of ThingMagic finished readers and embedded RFID modules.

Full schematics of the DevKit are available to support building of your own application-specific reader. The Universal Reader Assistant reduces complexity for novice users but still allows for low-level control for advanced developers by enabling testing and tuning of reader settings, antennas, and tags for your workflow.

Features

  • Can support a monostatic antenna through board-edge connection
  • Small size, barely larger than a quarter
  • Separate read and write levels, command adjustable
  • High tag read rate
