The Zebra DS8288-R is a cordless handheld scanner that combines a 1D/2D barcode imager with an integrated UHF RFID reader. Equipped with RFID read capabilities, the DS8288-R extends the benefits of item-level RFID to the point of sale, giving retailers the ability to layer barcode and RFID data for more precise inventory tracking and reduced shrink. It combines an advanced 2 MP optical sensor with Zebra's exclusive PRZM Intelligent Imaging technology, delivering fast, accurate capture of 1D, 2D, and Digimarc-watermarked barcodes, including those that are dense, poorly printed, damaged, or low-contrast. On the RFID side, it reads tags using EPC Class 1 Gen2, EPC Gen2 V2.2, and ISO 18000-63 standards, with a nominal read rate of approximately 10 tags per second and a nominal read range of approximately 43 in. (109 cm), adjustable to help minimize false reads. The RFID antenna is fully concealed within the housing, so RFID reads happen seamlessly without disrupting the checkout experience. As a cordless model, it connects via Bluetooth 5.2 and charges through a maintenance-free inductive cradle, with a choice of PowerPrecision+ battery or PowerCap™ supercapacitor. It's built to hold up to daily retail use, with IP52 sealing against dust and spills and durability rated for repeated drops and tumbles, backed by a three-year warranty.
